All schools shall keep Admission Registers of a form approved by the

Director. These registers shall also give particulars of pupils leaving.

Promotion, Leaving & Diszissal.

Except in Kindergarten classes, pupils may be promoted to a higher

class only after qualifying for such promotion by passing the annual examina-

tion, but the Director may grant exemption in special cases.

The Director shall be supplied with a brief report on every pupil

promoted to Class 1 in English schools without having first passed the

Hong Kong School Certificate Examination.

A pupil over 12 years of age who has twice failed to gain promotion

whether in one or the same class or in two different classes shall normally

be rusticated.

A pupil should not normally be permitted to remain in school after

the end of the school year during which his or her twentieth birthday occurs.

No pupil shall be dismissed from school except for the following

reasons:

(a)

Non-payment of fecs.

(b)

Some criminal or grave moral offence, or serious breach

of school discipline.

(c)

Rustication under Section 7 above.

(a)

Medical reasons approved by H.O.S.

(e)

Marriage.

All schools shall keep a record of pupils dismissed, giving clear

reasons for such dismissal.

ATTENDANCE, TERMS & HOLIDAYS

An attendance register shall be kept for every class which shall

be made up within one hour from the commencement of every school meeting.

Principals shall keep a daily summary showing the attendance of each

class. The attendance of any pupil who leaves before completing 2 hours attendance, or 11⁄2 hours if below class 8 or Lower Primary 3, shall be

deducted from the daily total.
